After watching a ton of football via the television this weekend, I thought I’d drop a few opinions about some potential pro football prospects.
1. Drew Willy, QB Buffalo- First off congrats to the Bulls. A great accomplishment took place when the traditionally worst team in NCAA division I took out undefeated Ball State to take home the MAC Championship. Willy is simply a leader and competitor. He seems to understand the game and thus can make plays. Further evaluation will detail whether his arm strength and accuracy are NFL worthy but right now I would think he garners at least late round consideration.
2. Terrence Cody, DT Alabama- The nose tackle of the vaulted Alabama defense didn’t seem to have a huge impact on the SEC Championship game in my opinion. I understand the Florida offense is based on speed to the outside but Cody didn’t seem to be a force up the middle. It was odd because he was listed as the nose tackle in the Bama 3-4 scheme but the Crimson Tide seemed to have at least four down linemen on most plays. Cody is listed at a whopping 380 pounds and lets face it, in the NFL there is a shortage of at least 6 ft, 350 plus pound men with the athleticism and strength to take on two blockers every play. Thus Cody will probably be a top three round pick. It also seems that more teams are using a 3-4 scheme and thus big nose tackles will be even more coveted.
